I also think they perfectly demonstrate some of the pitfalls of the show’s writing, which is that not one single character has a thought out arch. Like. Derek…was a rise and fall? I guess? BUT THE THING IS, Derek should already have learned all kinds of painful lessons, since, you know, there was that time he made a horribly bad decision and trusted someone he shouldn’t and his ENTIRE FAMILY WAS MURDERED. Wouldn’t it make more sense if his arch was “loner who doesn’t trust anyone” —> “guy who hesitantly has friends/allies” —> “guy who has a loyal pack” ??? As opposed to, I guess, “loner who doesn’t trust anyone” —> “power mad” —> “loner who doesn’t trust anyone” ???? LIKE WHAT EVEN IS THAT ARCH?
